We tend to think that communication is all about what we say, but listening has a very big part to play in communication. Our authenticity tends to shine through more strongly when we place value on listening to what our people have to say, asking questions that invite them to keep sharing so we can understand more clearly what is important to them as together we move through to this new future.
In these COVID-19 times many organisations feel that the only means to survival is to make employees redundant. They too often do this without any consultation with those employees. They could engage their people and have authentic conversations with them about possible other options.
